Thank you for visiting our new Internet site. The Duluth Archaeology Center (DAC) is a cultural resource management consulting company specializing in prehistoric archaeology and geomorphology. We also conduct a variety of laboratory anayses on sediments from archaeological sites including phytoliths, grain size studies and Loss-on-iginition.

The Duluth Archaeology Center, L.L.C. was established in 2000 by Susan C. Mulholland, Stephen L. Mulholland, and Jennifer R. Hamilton.  We regularly work for both state and county highway departments, Allete (MN Power), and small developers. We are happy to provide estimates and services for projects of any size.  Our regular customers particularly value our low prices and exceptional timely service. 

In 2007, some of the projects that DAC worked on included: Phase I archaeological surveys for road and bridge projects for Aitkin County Highway Department and MnDOT; Monitoring of known archaeological sites on two reservoirs for Minnesota Power; Phase II archaeological evaluations of sites for the Army Corps of Engineers; Phase I surveys for Indian Health Services; Phytolith analysis for another cultural resource company; and multiple Phase I surveys for developers and engineering companies. DAC also conducted a Phase I survey for a school in Proctor MN with the assistance of student volunteers (see photo).

If you  live in or near the Duluth, MN/ Superior, WI area you might be interested in the Northern Lakes Archaeological Society (NLAS).  NLAS is a group of people, both professional archaeologists and non-professionals, that meet once a month to listen to a variety of speakers and discuss archaeology both locally and worldwide.  If you would like to be added to the email list to be notified about NLAS meetings or for more information send an email to archcenter@qwestoffice.net and type NLAS in the subject.
